Malibu Boys Make History
Congratulations Malibu Boys U16
For the first time ever, two Malibu AYSO Boys U16 teams went head to head for the Area 10E Championship last Wednesday evening at Dos Vientos Park. In a highly anticipated match up, Malibu’s Team B, led by head coach Rick Ericsson and assistant coach Tom Sorce, took home the trophy with a 6 – 1 victory.

The Team Wins the Cottontail Country Classic in Diamond Bar
The Malibu AYSO GU12 Extra/Tournament Team won the Cottontail Country Classic this past weekend 4/9/11 through 4/10/11 in Diamond Bar. The girls of Malibu had to rally from deficits in two games to make the Tournament Championship a nail-biter of a game where they came back yet again for a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory against Chino. The colonial town of ‘Websterville” came alive this past Friday at Webster Elementary through its 64 fifth graders. Based on their study of life in Colonial America, the students assumed the roles of Websterville townspeople. Heavy rains the muddy runoff caused problems for businesses at the food of Las Flores Canyon on Sunday, March 20th. Employees at Cosentino’s Florist Shop and Duke’s Restaurant, along with some help from local firefighters, battled the mud and rising water as they worked hard to minmize the damage. Last Saturday’s Malibu Little League opening ceremonies were a big hit. Kids and families alike had fun with the pitching game, rock climbing wall and of course, baseball. The highlight of the day was an emotional Opening Ceremony and the throwing of the “First Pitch”.

City Hall Commendations Awarded to 4 More Malibu AYSO Teams
On Monday, Feb 14, Malibu City Hall gave commendations to 4 more Malibu AYSO teams. The BU14 and GU14 Extra Teams will compete for The State Cup in Garden Grove March 13,14. The BU14 and GU 14 Teams will compete for Sectionals in Bakersfield On Feb 26,27. Eight Malibu teams have been crowned champions or finalists out of 10 division. “Read More” for details and photos.

Webster Students Collect Books for School Library in Need
Webster Elementary School students collected 3,248 books in the 10th year of a recent student-run book drive. The drive is done on behalf of BookEnds, the L.A.-based program that helps schools in need stock their libraries. Malibu’s BU14 All Stars stormed their way through the Area All Star Tournament in January. They were unbeaten, winning the final match in a thrilling 1-0 contest against Thousand Oaks, with Dylan Lubell scoring the winning goal.

Congratulations to Malibu AYSO Girls Under 14 teams Pink and Green. The girls braved the win, rain, and lots of mud on Saturday, Nov 20 to compete in region playoffs. Both teams advance to area finals in December in Moorpark.

5 MHS singers chosen for National Honor Choirs
Five talented singers from the Malibu Middle and High School Choral Department earned spots on two prestigious National Honor Choirs last week. Isobel Anthony, Katie Reinhold, Caitlin Shoemaker and Nancy Walecki were accepted into the 2011 National Children’s Honor Choir. All are in the Girls’ Select Choir at Malibu Middle School.
