Malibu AYSO GU12 Extra Team Shines at Tournament

The Malibu AYSO GU12 Extra/Tournament Team won the Cottontail Country Classic this past weekend 4/9/11 through 4/10/11 in Diamond Bar.  The girls of Malibu had to rally from deficits in two games to make the Tournament Championship a nail-biter of a game where they came back yet again for a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory against Chino.

TOURNAMENT RECAP
A dramatic Championship run by the girls in the Cottontail Country Classic. A comeback game to tie Norco/Corona from a 3-4 deficit set the tone for the weekend – nail-biting action – but most important poise and resilience.

A 2-0 win against a good Upland team Saturday afternoon set the stage for the game against host Diamond Bar on Sunday morning. Down 2-1 at the half to Diamond Bar the Blues had to muster 2 goals and overcome some serious speed from the opposing team to squeak out a 3-2 victory

The stage was set for the Sunday afternoon Championship with Chino. Speed-on-speed was the billing as both teams play at a fast pace. The Blues fell behind facing a half-time deficit with the even more daunting task of overcoming a very skilled Chino team. After some excellent team soccer by both teams the Blues tied it with about 6 minutes left. Then in overtime they really came out firing and put the game away in the first period holding on to a well deserved victory over the last 5 minutes, final was 3-2.

Really a defining game and tournament for this team in how they play under pressure. Bravo.

Chino is the Area 1B All-star winner and finished top 5 in Section 1. A very good team btw.
