Malibu AYSO GU14 Extra team won FIRST PLACE at State Championships in Garden Grove on March 12.
The team beat Ladera Ranch in overtime 2-0 in the semifinals. Then they faced Thousand Oaks in what felt like a rematch. In November, T.O. and Malibu battled for the league trophies with T.O. taking them home. This time, it was a different story. The game opened with T.O. scoring the first goal on a break away. However, this only proved to motivate the girls more to win. They followed through with excellent passing and shot a clean goal past their goalie and by halftime, the game was tied at 1-1. The second half was filled with even more spirit and drive. Third quarter ended with Malibu up 2-1. In the fourth quarter, TO was just no match for these determined girls. Their fight continued and earned them another goal. The game ended 3-1 with Malibu taking home the title.
Some of these girls have been playing together since they were 5-years-old, and now they finally have their 1st place trophies.
